FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Tarkhan free?

Yes. The editor is free to use. You can draw without an account; you only sign in if you want to store projects in the cloud or create a read-only share link.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Tarkhan runs entirely in your web browser — there is nothing to download or install.

Do I need an account to start?

No. You can open the editor and start drawing immediately. Your current plan autosaves locally in your browser, so it’s still there when you come back. An account is only needed for cloud projects and share links.

What units does it support?

Metric and imperial. You can switch between them at any time. Internally everything is stored in real-world millimetres, so the unit choice only changes how lengths are shown and typed, never the model.

Can I export to CAD or PDF?

Yes. You can export the active floor to DXF or SVG on named layers, print to a true-to-scale PDF (A4, A3 or Letter at ratios like 1:50 or 1:100), grab a PNG of the canvas, or save the whole plan as a JSON file.

Can I trace over an existing drawing?

Yes — you can import a JPEG or PNG as an underlay, calibrate it to real-world scale, lock it, and trace your plan over the top. (Tarkhan imports images to trace; it does not import DXF files.)

Does it handle multiple floors?

Yes. A plan can have as many storeys as you need. While you draw one floor, the floor below is ghosted underneath for alignment, and you can duplicate a floor to start the next one.

Can I share a plan with someone?

Yes. Turn on a read-only share link and anyone with the link can view the plan in a clean, view-only page — no account required to look.
